Our Five Top Picks for July

The world of antiques never ceases to amaze us. Because as you’ll know, antiques aren’t about old objects – it’s about the history that’s attached to them and the unique stories that they tell.

Without antiques, we wouldn’t be able to look back on how our ancestors lived or the culture of their time. We’d be lost.

As one of the UK’s largest antique dealers, we see a lot of rare and fascinating items come through our doors. And this month has been no exception. In fact, here are our top picks on some of the best items we’ve seen this month.

1. 18th Century Georgian Mahogany Serpentine Fronted Bachelors Chest

Dating all the way back to the 18th century, this bachelors chest is truly a beauty to behold. Made from deep and strong mahogany and lined with oak, this small set of drawers was originally created as a multi-purpose piece of furniture, perfectly suited to all gentlemen living in bachelor’s pads.

The chest has a crossbanded top and further cross banding across its drawers. The first drawer is home to a writing slide, which can be pushed back to reveal further compartments and lidded sections. What’s more, this chest also comes with the rare, original Bilston enamel plaques to the handles, complete with classical urns on each.
