We have a range of unique antiques currently in stock that will complement any room. We’ve highlighted our three top picks below to help you on your way.
Chippendale Style Dining Chairs
The first of our top picks this month is this set of 14 Chippendale Style 19th Century Dining Chairs By Morant & Co.
If you’re looking for a way to dress your dining room in style, these dining chairs by Morant & Co., a Royal Appointment holder, could be perfect. This is your chance to get your hands on these classic vintage dining chairs from an exceptional maker, all in excellent condition for their age.
These are in the Chippendale style, with two later arms and twelve single chairs, and come in an elegant deep mahogany finish. Each chair has hand carved scrolling foliate decoration to the back and gothic influenced fret work to the sides. Moreover, the chairs have upholstered leather seats and are raised on square section legs with blind fret work.
Each chair is stamped Morant & Co. 91 New Bond St, London. The furniture firm was established by George Morant in 1790 in London and continued to flourish throughout the nineteenth century. By 1852 the firm had premises at 91 New Bond Street. They produced exceptional quality furniture and participated at many of the international exhibitions of the period, becoming one of the most successful cabinet-makers of the mid-19th century. Amongst their clients were members of the Royal Family, which led to them being awarded Royal Appointment at the beginning of Queen Victoria’s reign, on the recommendation of the Duchess of Gloucester.
Dutch Marquetry Bureau Bookcase
The second of our top picks this month is a beautiful 18th century Dutch Marquetry Bureau Bookcase.
If you’ve been searching for a statement piece to fill your home, look no further than this charming bookcase.
An exquisite piece in our current collection, this beautifully adorned bookcase features inlaid marquetry detail of flowers, birds and vases. It also has a double dome top cornice, two panel doors, a fall front and bombe shaped base. Doors open to reveal plenty of storage space with pigeonholes, drawers and cupboards. On top of this, the bookcase features the original brass handles, oak lined drawers and is raised on bracket feet.
A very special piece and not one to be missed!
French Boulle Mantel Clock
Another of our top picks is the 19th century French Boulle Mantel Clock.
Perfect for dressing up any mantelpiece, this stunning clock is one of our favourites this month. It is an eye-catching timepiece and will add character to any mantelpiece.
The clock sits on gilded ormolu mounts and has a gilded ormolu figure of father time at the top. Most noteworthy, it has beautiful brass inlaid decoration to the sides and front alongside enamel roman numerals to the clock face, a sunburst pendulum and an eight-day chiming movement.
A striking decorative item, this won’t be available for long!
